Thanks for the post Frank. It’s surely a lot different than the stuff we used to drink at UMass and ULowell! Apparently the saké 20 years ago that was imported into the US was pretty bad quality and heating it was the best way to mask the bad flavor. The premium saké coming in now is outstanding and best enjoyed cold, you should definitely try it.

On my list for this site is a section on short saké reviews. There are a couple that seem to be very popular in the Boston area. Hakushika makes a nice affordable Ginjo that you can get in most package stores that sell saké. There’s another one called “Bride of the Fox” that I’ve seen around that is also quite good. One of my favorite premium sakés is from Gokyo, really smooth but I haven’t seen it around here but if you can find it it’s not expensive but it’s extremely good.

I am not sure I could mountain bike after some sake, but it sure sounds like fun! Can you make a posting of some of your favorite brands/types and where you buy them.

I really want to try cold sake. It sounds great and opens up a whole new sake experience.

Great site, too. I bought one of the recommended books (Insiders Guide) to learn more about sake.
